Developmental Disabilities Training Institute (DDTI)
The Situation
The Developmental Disabilities Training Institute (DDTI), within the Jordan Institute for Families in the UNC-CH School of Social Work, works to share knowledge, skills, and foster improvements of services and supports for persons with developmental disabilities in North Carolina in a variety of ways. This goal is currently accomplished through providing community based training events, technical assistance, and the development of training tools.
DDTI was instrumental in promoting values/strengths-based approaches in planning for supports for persons and families experiencing intellectual disabilities in North Carolina. DDTI has a longstanding relationship with CQL and maintains a demonstrated level of excellence in conducting training using the Personal Outcome Measures SM and has maintained certified trainers for over ten years.
What CQL Did
In 2006 CQL and DDTI entered into a unique and groundbreaking agreement for training in North Carolina. Through this agreement CQL granted DDTI a license to use CQL’s Personal Outcome Measures SM for training. DDTI offers the following training modules:
- Personal Outcomes Overview Training (1-day)
- In-depth training (3 and 4 day events) of Personal Outcomes and Supports
The advantage for organizations in North Carolina is that providers have a local option for obtaining high quality, affordable, and easily accessible training related to CQL’s Personal Outcome Measures SM. For CQL, this agreement marked the beginning of a more formal network of many of our long time respected colleagues.
