Nevada Developmental Services
The Situation
Three Regional Centers make up the Developmental Services branch of the Nevada Division of Mental Health & Developmental Services. The Regional Centers help people plan and access services through service coordination that supports people’s personal choices and wishes. Services, choices, and opportunities focus on best practices, community integration, family supports, and employment.
The state of Nevada Division of Developmental Services and the three regional centers recognized the need to evaluate systems for improving accountability, quality services within a person-focused framework.
What CQL Did
CQL provided training and technical assistance to the regional centers and the University of Nevada in the application of the Personal Outcome Measures® .
The Nevada University Center of Excellence in collaboration with the Nevada Division of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities conducted over 4,130 Personal Outcome Measures® Interviews. The analysis of the interview data has influenced staff training needs, public policy, and service and support planning.
Desert Regional Center, Sierra Regional Center, and Rural Regional Center continue to maintain their accreditation status with CQL and have initiated plans to address Community Life SM measures in future accreditation quality improvement.
