CQL Canada Partership
The Situation
In the mid-1990s, members of the Ontario Association for Community Living decided to align their quality enhancements efforts with those of CQL and its Personal Outcome Measures SM. Under a formal agreement that spanned over 10 years, Accreditation Ontario was established as a Canadian not-for-profit organization that was licensed to utilize CQL’s measures and accreditation methodology.
Building on the success of the work in the province of Ontario and the mutually beneficial relationship between Accreditation Ontario and CQL, the parties agreed to expand the scope of their efforts to include all of Canada.
What CQL Did
In 2006, CQL and Accreditation Ontario finalized an agreement between the two organizations through which Accreditation Ontario acquired the exclusive rights to use and market CQL products and services throughout Canada. Under the agreement, Accreditation Ontario changed its corporate name to The Council on Quality and Leadership Canada and will conduct business as CQL Canada.
“Using CQL’s quality of life metrics and research, quality improvement systems and products, Accreditation Ontario has established the bench mark against which all other quality improvement programs are measured. Accreditation Ontario has made person- and family-centered services its priority. We are proud to offer CQL’s products throughout Canada and to become the first of what we hope will be a number of international partners.”
