Volunteers of America Southeast
The Situation
Volunteers of America Southeast, Inc. (VOASE) initiated its service network in 1980 by establishing three group homes. Today, the affiliate has grown to be the third largest in the National Volunteers of America family, serving thousands of persons daily, in 27 communities throughout Alabama, Mississippi, and Georgia.
Looking for a partner in defining and measuring quality, VOASE began by interviewing several accrediting bodies. They found that CQL best fit the philosophy and direction of the organization
What CQL Did
CQL worked with VOASE throughout the preparation process. Our onsite accreditation review is based on an assessment of the organization’s ability to enhance Personal Outcomes and to achieve meaningful results during the period of accreditation. The CQL review team considered matters of health, safety and welfare (Organizational Assurances), commitment to service users, and the variables of Leadership, Systems, and Quality Management and Planning (Organizing Principles).
CQL Accreditation is grounded in our core values of person-directed outcomes and provides the skills and tools necessary to measure the direct impact of organizations on the lives of people supported. CQL Accreditation is an objective, external measurement of the quality of services the organization provides.
“Volunteers of America Southeast is dedicated to providing quality services. This is the initial reason for our pursuit of accreditation through CQL. We want every person that we serve to have the opportunity to achieve their personal goals and dreams. The accreditation process has been enlightening for all of us. Our person-centered planning process has significantly improved, and we are much more knowledgeable of what it is that people really want out of life. Everyone has personal aspirations, and we want to ensure that they are provided the supports they need to achieve these dreams. Our accreditation with CQL enables us to further perform this mission.”
